Who We Are

BCRFM is staffed entirely by volunteers.  Our presenters, station manager and the Board of Management all give their time freely to ensure the smooth and continuous running of the radio station, which broadcasts every Saturday and Sunday from 11am until 11pm. They volunteer because they believe that the information that they present is important; because they want to develop the skills associated with radio production; or just because working in radio is fun!

Ballina Community Radio is a non-profit station, which means that any money we make from the service we provide goes back into the station. We are limited in how we can raise funds to pay for the day-to-day expenses and rely on sponsorship, grants and fundraising while following a standard Code of Practice. The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland guides all Irish community stations in their operations and helps them maintain a community focus.
