Top 10 Halloween Playlist

By now you have your Halloween costume sorted, a hoard of sweets gathered for the trick or treaters that you have vowed not to eat but do you have your playlist sorted? Fear not, our station manager, Ray Forde has put together his top 10 Halloween playlist to have a killer party .

  1. Thriller – Michael Jackson

There’s no getting away from this one, Thriller is ‘the’ classic Halloween song. The song broke new grounds musically alongside a music video with its groundbreaking dance routine that has been copied but never equaled.

2. Highway to Hell – AC/ DC

I couldn’t put a list of my favourite Halloween songs without getting some rock in there! The song features on the bands 5th studio album of the same name and it was the final album with lead singer Bon Scott before his death in 1980. The song features an unmistakable opening guitar riff which became an instant classic. I’ve linked the live version – you will not be disappointed.

  1. The Devil Went Down to Georgia – The Charlie Daniels Band

Some of you may never heard this song before, so let me fill you in! The song is about a lad who takes on the devil in a fiddle competition and …….

4. Superstition – Stevie Wonder

One of my favourite singers of all time, I was lucky enough to see him play in what was then the 02 back in 2010. May not be your typical Halloween song but with so many superstitions  around Halloween I just had to include it.

  1. Somebody’s Watching Me – Rockwell

Have you ever had the feeling that you’re not alone even when no one is with you? This paranoid rock song from Rockwell will have you checking your shadow.

  1. Ghostbusters – Ray Parker Jr

Who you gonna call?

  1. I Put A Spell On You – Nina Simone

This song has being covered by the likes of Annie Lennox, Bonnie Tyler, Jeff Beck and of course not forgetting Bette Middler in the movie “Hocus Pocus”. Yet as is often the case you just can’t beat the original.

  1. Monster Mash – Bobby “Borris” Pickett

When you’re looking for the epitome of a Halloween song ” Monster Mash” is the go to. From monsters, ghouls and werewolves it has them all.

  1. The Time Warp – The Rocky Horror Picture Show

The song featured in the 1973 musical “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” which became a cult classic.  “It’s just a jump to the left…”

  1. Zombie – The Cranberries

The only Irish artists featured in my top 10 and I know some of you may question its Halloween relevance but the title alone it was included. The song was released in 1994 and for some of you it will transport you back to your secondary school days. The good ‘aul days in the Convent, Tech and the College thinking you were too cool for school while trying to sort out a red ID for the weekend!
